DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 7 pm and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.  Tickets and info. \nThe Embodying Rhythm Marimba Ensemble plays soulful\, uplifting\, groovy\, polyphonic music. Besides original compositions\, they play their renditions of traditional tunes from Africa\, Europe\, and the Americas\, along with a sprinkle of choice modern tunes and Alderdice’s arrangements of a few classic holiday tunes. At the ensemble’s foundation is a 4 & a 1/2 octave set of beautiful wooden marimbas (including a really big bass marimba)\, featuring some woodwinds\, brass\, percussion\, and a little bit of singing for a broad and engaging musical experience. It’s sure to be a delightful musical program for the whole family\, so bring a friend. \nThe ensemble is excited about their new debut album featuring ten original compositions by David Alderdice and one original composition by Matt Drbohlav as well as a couple of traditional tunes from Zimbabwe and South Africa. Their live shows feature some tunes from the album as well as some choice modern covers along with some original and exploratory arrangements of music from Africa\, North and South America\, Europe\, and the Caribbean. \nMembers in the ensemble include Arlyn Alderdice\, David Alderdice\, Daniel Be\, Jeannette Carey\, Matt Drbohlav\, Rebecca Drbohlav\, Dylan Fixmer\, and Jen Sanborn. The group formed in 2015 after the Alderdice’s decision in 2014 to purchase a Zimbabwean style tenor padauk marimba made for traditional ensemble playing rather than a chromatic rosewood marimba made for solo classical performance. DESCRIPTION:tickets \nThis artist-run creative project disregards genre\, with favorites from the worlds of classical\, pop\, jazz\, soundtrack and folk music adapted for the ensemble by its members. Known for their stage antics\, the BWBQ use choreography\, accessory instruments\, props\, and skits to add theatrical elements to their top notch musicianship. \nThe ensembles mission is threefold: to navigate the intersection of classical music\, pop culture\, and comedy to expand the scope of bassoon performance and to create meaningful bonds with audiences. \nThe members of the quartet  Brittany Harrington-Smith\, Yuki Katayama\, Kara LaMoure\, and Lauren Yu Ziemba  met as undergraduate students in the studio of John Hunt at the Eastman School of Music.  Besides global touring and educational endeavors\, each maintains an active freelance career in multiple fields\, based in Los Angeles\, Dallas and New York City.

DESCRIPTION:The Embodying Rhythm Marimba Ensemble plays soulful\, uplifting\, groovy\, polyphonic music. Besides original compositions\, they play their renditions of traditional tunes from Africa\, Europe\, and the Americas\, along with a sprinkle of choice modern tunes and Alderdice’s arrangements of a few classic holiday tunes. At the ensemble’s foundation is a 4 & a 1/2 octave set of beautiful wooden marimbas (including a really big bass marimba)\, featuring some woodwinds\, brass\, percussion\, and a little bit of singing for a broad and engaging musical experience. It’s sure to be a delightful musical program for the whole family\, so bring a friend. \nThe ensemble is excited about their new debut album featuring ten original compositions by David Alderdice and one original composition by Matt Drbohlav as well as a couple of traditional tunes from Zimbabwe and South Africa. Their live shows feature some tunes from the album as well as some choice modern covers along with some original and exploratory arrangements of music from Africa\, North and South America\, Europe\, and the Caribbean. \nMembers in the ensemble include Arlyn Alderdice\, David Alderdice\, Daniel Be\, Jeannette Carey\, Matt Drbohlav\, Rebecca Drbohlav\, Dylan Fixmer\, and Jen Sanborn. They generally have special guests sit in with them on a few tunes per set. The group formed in 2015 after the Alderdice’s decision in 2014 to purchase a Zimbabwean style tenor padauk marimba made for traditional ensemble playing rather than a chromatic rosewood marimba made for solo classical performance. The marimbas are relatives of the traditional thumb piano of the Shona people called the mbira dzavadzimu. \ntickets
