Embodying Rhythm at Medicine Weaver’s Retreat in Hotchkiss, CO

During this fun and engaging rhythm experience, we will focus on embodying rhythms through rhythmic vocalizations, hand gestures and stepping cycles. We will be using the traditional South Indian rhythm practice of Solkattu to deepen our relationship with rhythm, music and life. Through this practice we will delve deeper into the awareness of feeling rhythm as a full body experience. This fun phrase-centered approach aids musicians of all kinds to get the visceral sensations of many different rhythmic applications from the naturally occurring universal concepts and musical uses of internalizing pulse, subdivisions, syncopation, cross-rhythms, and poly-rhythms.
