Embodying Rhythm through Marimba Playing and Rhythmic Vocalizations:      ages 9-99
We will explore and expand our rhythmic and melodic awareness through marimba playing, South Indian time cycles (solkattu), and group improvisation. This class is great way to open the door to rhythm and music or continue your musical development. We will learn traditional Zimbabwean marimba tunes and practice embodying the rhythms behind the melodies; we will also explore ensemble playing and gently guided improvisation.

This is a nine week series, please plan to attend all nine weeks or discuss with teachers.

No prior musical experience required, marimbas will be provided.
