Hello Dear Ones,

I hope you are well and catching some time outdoors as you are able. I’m deeply immersed in life-coach training and so looking forward to sharing more of this work. Please reach out if you’d like to hear more and/or possibly schedule a session. I have been finding this modality inspiring, supportive and transformative.

I added three Sunday dates for dancing in Hotchkiss at the Yoga Tree. The first one is this Sunday the 19th at 11am. Details below. Live music Movement as Medicine is now offered the first Sunday of the month at the Hearth ongoing and Friday morning dance continues 9am at the Hearth ongoing.

David and I are also offering a Bucket Drumming and Marimba afterschool class in Paonia on Wednesdays starting March 1st for 2nd – 6th graders. Details below.

And, while 10 years ago is the first best time to start a new skill (like drumming), now is the next best time. David has a few private lesson slots available at the moment, so if you’d like one, or know someone how would, please reach out.

Also, David and I will be leading 4 youth camping & backpacking trips this summer through The Nature Connection. More Details below.

Explore the woods with us this summer! We will be offering 4 youth camping & backpacking trips for 11-15 year olds this summer through The Nature Connection. They will all be 4 day/3 night trips, two for girls and two for boys. Each gender will have a camping/backpacking 101 trip with 2 nights at a local campground then a short 1 night backpack. The second trip is a full backpacking trip where we spend all 4 days/ 3 nights hiking in the wilderness, camping under the stars, and carrying everything that we’ll need on our backs.

The Girls in the Wilderness Backpacking 101 trip will be June 19-22
Boot to Roots boys 101 trip will be June 12-15
The Girls in the Wilderness backpacking trip July 17-20
Boots to Roots boys backpacking trip July 10-13

__

If that sounds great, but you’re not a youth in that age range, please contact us to discuss a possibility of setting up a life-coaching / backpacking trip.

When all the noise is silenced,
The meetings adjourned…
The lists laid aside,
And the Wild Iris blooms
By itself
In the dark forest…
What still pulls on your soul?”

February News

January 30, 2023 by ladyarlyn

Dear Ones,

We hope you are well.

I heard recently that this time of year is said to be when the worms begin to sing – speaking of deep underground rumblings. It is still cold here in Colorado, but not quite as dark. Now there appears the possibility that winter will one day give way to spring, so we’d better trim the fruit trees for a good crop and harvest cottonwood tree buds to heal scrapes or burns.

In February, Friday morning dancing continues, 9am at the Hearth in Paonia. Our Sunday dances with live music move to the first Sunday of each month – this Sunday, February 5th at 11am at the Hearth. The music will be offered by Daniel Be, Chloe Brook and Sami Akert – we’ll have some songs you may have heard with Mama Lingua as well as some fun new funky jams.

Over in Carbondale on Feb. 2, David will be playing some Americana music with Ruby Joyful Band at Steve’s Guitars. Details below.

blessings,
Arlyn

correction 9am Friday dance – January Update

January 10, 2023 by ladyarlyn

Hello – the newsletter went out with a typo, just showing the end time of the Friday morning dance and not the beginning.

We dance at the Hearth on Fridays, 9:00am until 10:00am.

best,
Arlyn

Here’s the full letter. . .

Hello,

We hope you are well.

On many levels the new calendar year is a collective fiction, on another, it does coincide with the return of the light in the northern hemisphere and there is a way that it can be harnessed to plan, seed, and grow another cycle of creation.

What are you planning/intending/visioning?

We’re practicing more, taking good care of each other, and doing our best to show up in the world with our skills and our values. We’re planning to share some music and some dancing. We’re also planning backpacking trips, but they will have to wait for the seasonal shifts.

This month we have Friday morning dance practice, Sunday January 15th live music Movement as Medicine, kid’s music and rhythm classes, and an online life coach / dance experience on Sunday January 22nd and more. If you get this newsletter and have been wanting to dance with us, but it feels too far away, invite the dance into your own home on the 22nd. All details + links for more info below.

Take care and we’ll see you soon,

Arlyn & David

December Update

December 5, 2022 by ladyarlyn

Hello,
We hope you are well. We don’t know about you, but this year has gone both slow and fast for the different portions of the year. A somewhat funny taste of time-travel and the power of being either fully present or fully resistant to what is happening.
In December, Movement as Medicine with Live Music – this month featuring the marimbas with Jeannette Carey, David Alderdice and Daniel B – is on December 11th at the Hearth. It’s been a ton of fun putting this music together for you, and we hope you’ll come out and dance with us! And Friday morning dance practice continues with Arlyn 9am at the Hearth in Paonia.
Swing Night was a lot of fun last year, a family friendly event on December 10th at the NF High School. Great for the listeners as well as the dancers!
Dark Night this year is titled Convergence. Dec. 16 & 17 in Paonia and Dec. 18 in Norwood.
We hope you are remembering to do the things that you like to take care of yourself in this season and we’ll see you soon.
blessings,
Arlyn & David

November Update

November 1, 2022 by ladyarlyn

Dear Ones,

In October, I (Arlyn) gathered with 80 women to dance at Shakti Sisterhood with Melissa Michaels and we talked about why embody? Why bother bringing our life-force and attention more fully into our bodies? The reasons spoken into the room were as diverse as the group – from power, to connection to the earth, from more pleasure, to more purpose. What is better for you, when you are more attuned to your body?

We’re dancing on Friday mornings at the Hearth 9am – 10am. We’re dancing this month on Sunday November 13th with live music from 11am – 12:30pm. There is childcare available on site. David Alderdice, Daniel B, and Beth Quist will take us on a journey. Responsive live music, co-created with the dance is on of the best things, in my body.

And, a women’s mini-retreat has been called into being — “Release/Nourish” on November 20th from 9am-1pm at the Hearth in Paonia. Details. If you have been longing for more connection in your life, more strength, more presence, more joy, and less stress – please join us.

Also, whatever it is that you are doing this month, please remember to bring some gentleness. Maybe some soup. Some willingness to listen a little deeper to what your whole being can say yes to.

blessings,

Arlyn and David
