December Update – World Music on Friday

December 3, 2019 by ladyarlyn

Dear Ones,

We hope you had a good Thanksgiving. Thank you for being you. Thank you for your support of music in general and our work specifically. Thank you for showing up.

Rumi says, “Giving thanks for abundance is greater than abundance itself.” Brene Brown says, “I don’t have to chase extraordinary moments to find happiness – it’s right in front of me if I’m paying attention and practicing gratitude.”

This Friday we have another exciting installment in the World Music in Paradise Concert Series with Fortunato on Friday night and a Saturday tabla recital. More details below.

Arlyn has been checking out a whole bunch of good books all in a row. One is “Practice Perfect: 42 Rules for Getting Better at Getting Better,” by Lemov, Woolway, and Yezzi. And after reading in a productivity book that meditation is one key to increasing productivity, she came across this book: “In Tune: Music as the Bridge to Mindfulness” by Richard Wolf. The sub-sub-title is “How you can build a lifelong meditation practice through sound – and silence.” I heartily recommend them both.

We hope to see you soon and we look forward to hearing about your game-changing books.

blessings,
Arlyn & David

“The enemies of practice are pride and fear and self-satisfaction. To practice requires humility. It forces us to admit that we don’t know everything. . . To practice isn’t to declare, I’m bad. To practice is to declare, I can be better.” – Dan Heath
