June Update – workshops & performances

We hope you are doing well and enjoying the beginning of summer. Things here are good; the garden is growing quickly and so is our little one.

The Youth and Community Parade Band began in May, it’s been fun to start getting music together for parading. If you play a portable instrument at least at a beginning level, it’s not too late to get involved – Monday nights, details. And for those of you interested in parading but not playing, we’ll be bringing Soozie to town from Mud Puppet Theater soon for some puppet-making. We’ll keep you posted on the details.

We’ve been having fun getting music ready for the 3 upcoming local Free Marimba Concerts we’ll be playing, along with the Marimba Summer Camps that are happening soon in Paonia. We’re excited to be learning some new tunes and if you’ve been wanting to play with us – we’ve got one Marimba Ensemble Workshop and one Marimba Improvisation Playshop, both on June 27th, details. This is a great chance for all levels of marimba players (new-comers to the marimba are definitely welcome) to come together and enjoy the sounds and vibrations of these beautiful instruments.

And, partly inspired by the World Music Concert Series coming to the Blue Sage this coming season, we’re offering one Frame Drum Workshop and one Riq Workshop on June 28th. No prior experience required. Instruments will be provided, details. Choose from cooking, agriculture, music (found percussion, marimba, & more), and art activities (painting, or farm crafts) on a beautiful working farm and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch and dinner from fresh local ingredients. and how it slides again

out of the blackness,
every morning,

like a red flower

streaming upward on its heavenly oils,
